Tambour Embroidery and Beading
My first embroidery project was an 18th century cap. I used cotton embroidery floss on a silk/ poly organza. and based by pattern on an extant 18th century design.

For my second project, I tried to add beading to the design. Working on the same sheer organza, I created a simple beaded flower design. I then attached this design to a backing for framing. I loved the way the beads added weight to the fabric and I can't wait to use this technique on a larger garment.

I was trying out two different ways of filling in the flowers, a spiral or straight lines. Looking at them together I far prefer the straight lines!
